Colin was a good bugger who always helped someone in need. Always there to help with his time and effort. It was a pleasure to meet and work with him on behalf of Coastguard Taranaki. He will be missed. Our condolences to his family.
To Beryl and the girls and families , we were so sorry to hear the sad news about Colin’s passing . We have such happy memories of your visits to us in Northern Ireland , and also when we finally made it to visit you all in New Plymouth! Thoughts of your friends and colleagues at Rotary are with you Deb and your family with the loss of your special person in your lives. Those of us who knew Colin over the years valued him as a good honest man and he will be sadly missed amongst us.
The World will be a sadder place without you Colin. You were always so quick with the joke and brightened and lightened a room with your humour. But more than that was your willingness take people at face value, to trust and give them a chance. An easy ability to get on with people from all walks of life and the simple positivity you displayed in the face of adversity. Your life has had many ups and downs- but you never gave up! You kept rising like a phoenix from the ashes of failed business ventures to become one of the most popular men in New Plymouth. I feel so lucky to have known you and hold all those great memories of times I spent with you - be it my first experience of driving the holden or riding a motorbike, fishing, paua, chasing and feeding the calves, milking the cows, breech birth (resulting in one very angry cow!), and even driving the tractor into the fence! As a 'city slicker' we were lucky to have non towny cuzzies and get an experience of life on the farm. You never could stay still for long - even on holidays in the UK boredom would get the better of you had to clean our car or anything really! And who could forget the 2007 RWC the day the AB's lost to France in Cardiff, or taking you to the doctors in Munich for your spasming back and the mad Hungarian doctor who finally 'cured it' by injecting your back all over with local anaesthetic! You were an amazing guy who will be sorely missed not only by your fantastic wife and family but by all the thousands of people whose lives you have touched in some way. Rest in Peace Colin and know that you will forever be loved. Antony XXXX

What a dear, wonderful man, Colin was, simply a MENSCH, in Yiddish. A special, an easy man, a good person, so positive and kind and SO MUCH FUN! Always up for a laugh, we feel his loss keenly all the way here in Canada as we're sure the extended whanau do throughout Taranaki, Aotearoa and the whole world. May his memory be a blessing. Sending you our love and deepest condolences and wishing you all a long, healthy life. Deb and Francine Xx
