Passed away peacefully on the 27th June 2025 aged 94 years.
Dearly beloved wife of Kenneth Desmond Gunson (deceased)
Loved mother and mother-in-law of Carol, Lynda, Patricia (Paddy) and Punawai, Marion and John, and Ian.
Close friend of Tony Moselen.
Much loved Grandmother to her 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Always remembered with love.
A special thanks to Hospice staff, Access Community Health, and TLC4u2 for their wonderful care of our mum.
A service for Valerie will be held at the Chapel of Morris & Morris Funerals, (entrance 17 Western Hills Drive) Whau Valley, Whangarei, at 10:30 am on Friday the 4th July 2025, followed by a private family interment at Maunu Cemetery.

I have many lasting memories of my friend Valerie.i will never forget the times we shared together of times gone passed laughing sharing a joke or two over a cuppa and her favourite pizza stick every Monday at 10 while I was in nz.she was always happy to see me as I was her.a delight and privilege for me to have had this time and friendship with Valerie. A very talented artist with a large collection of her artwork always signed v.chell.(a story behind that)I must add Valerie has a very loving family that she loved and loved her and I honour you for your care and patience to keep Valerie at home where she wanted to spend her last days and indeed she did.so thank you and farewell Valerie I will miss you.Rex.
