To Theresa and all the family. Please accept our deepest condolences at this very sad time. Colin did so much for our community, he will be sadly missed.
This is very sad . For 37 years Colin & I sat on the finish line judged our clubs athletes on Wednesday nights, also the numerous Athletic Taranaki, Colgate games, NZ Nationals and other events over the decades. Athletics in Inglewood will never be the same, no longer will Colin pull me up for an incorrect place on club night, nor will he be there setting up the tent on the bigger events. Colin expected everyone to help put out the gear and take it down after and would get very cross with those who wanted to go early or get tea. Colin & I worked together at nearly every event in Inglewood over all those years, . Being at the judges stand we had time to review the week, every week, talk about who did what, all the schools events of how difficult some could be. He was a top chief walking judge, and spent hours coaching and telling race walkers how to walk within the rules. I watched his Children race each club night, saw his grand children do the same. My thoughts go to Theresa, Sandra Racheal who like Colin never missed a athletic event, and the rest of the family .
Colin was a genuinely wonderful person whose kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He gave so much of himself to others, always with quiet strength and a warm, reassuring smile. His absence will be deeply felt, and my heart goes out especially to his beloved wife, Theresa, and all his loved ones during this difficult time.
Heartfelt sympathy to Theresa and family at this very sad time. A very special person who has given so much to the community of Inglewood.
Sending our love and sympathy to Theresa, Dennis, Sandra, Shawn, Rachel and families. With love from Chris and Raewyn Rooney and family
Thinking of you all and sharing your sadness at this time. Colin will be remembered as a lovely man who gave so much to many. His personal coaching input into the lives and style of most local race walkers over years and years will remain a legacy to him.
