Today my heart is heavy with the loss of Marilyn, a woman who was so much more than word can capture. She was an extraordinary chef, a warm and gracious host, a devoted mother and the kindest grandmother anyone could ever hope for. Her spirit filled every room with love, and her passing leaves a void that feels impossible to fill. Marilyn had a gift for making everyone feel home. From the moment she welcomed me into her family, she made me feel like I belonged, proudly calling me part of her New Zealand family. Her love wrapped around me like a warm embrace, and I will forever cherish the kindness in her voice, the care in her actions, and the joy of her Christmas feasts. As someone with a hearty appetite, I was always touched by how she ensured I left her table full- her way of showing love through every dish she prepared.
