Bruce Wilson Ferguson

21 March 19564 July 2025

Aged 69, passed away unexpectedly at his home on the fourth of July, 2025.

Father to Viki and Liz, Grandfather to Blake and John, longtime companion of Denise

A man of wit and wisdom, in his "element" at a pub quiz, he never conceded a game willingly.

Bruce embraced life to the fullest, gone too soon.

Tributes

I am so sad to hear of Bruce's passing. I knew him and his family very well in the 1980's and 1990's. We worked together at CBL (Datacom) and then formed a business: Waikato Computer Services. And then another: Remarkable Software. We worked long hours, wrote great software, but didn't make much $$$. Shame! Despite our shared Scottish heritage, I didn't share his love of Scottish country dancing. For a time I lived in his Hamilton house, after he moved to Auckland. More recently I would catch up with him for a long chat, each year at Fieldays. It has been lovely getting to know Denise on their visits to us, and I hope we will see Denise again soon. My deepest sympathies to Bruce's girls, who really were just little girls when I knew them all those years ago.

Denise, you gave Bruce a wonderful family life, which he treasured beyond all. We were privileged to know Bruce for 20 years and never met a more alive, open, positive person. He encouraged us to join him in many activities but we didn’t have the broad skills of our dear friend. We will miss his visits so very much. So sad for his family as he loved them all dearly.
