Dear Trevor, Lorene and Families, We are sorry to learn of your Dad’s passing. Helen and I have fond memories of our Band trips with your Dad to Contests over the years. Johnny seemed to know someone in every town and always had a story or two to share. We are sorry that we are unable to be with you for your Dad’s funeral service as we are in transit from Australia. Please accept our sincere sympathy in your loss. Tony and Helen Robertson
RIP Uncle Johnny, I have great memories of you xx
You will be missed uncle Johnny. So many fond memories… to many to mention and each one as precious as the other. Rest easy now uncle, your time has come.
Johnny, I have many fond memories of you from when I was a child and always recall your cheeky comments to my nana that would make me laugh. A wonderful man who will be missed by many. Rest easy Johnny.
When Ross Shaw first introduced Charlie & John (two commercial fishermen) our lives blessedly became entwined. Fishing, golf, holidays, enduring friendships and so much more brought joy to us all. Matter of fact, can-do, common sense, generous, hospitable and loyal beloved friend come easily to mind as we gratefully tuck John into our memory bank. Our love and prayers are extended to all family, and friends who like us, will miss this giant of a man.
Trevor, Lorree and family, I am so sorry to hear of Johnny's death, and also that I am still in Australia so will only be able to see the sevice via the live stream. I have many fond memories of my early years in the band with Johnny. He was a great friend and mentor to me and many young people. I will always remember driving his little morrie truck during fund raising bottle drives as well as his great sense of humour. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered
A wonderful man of brass banding. Thank you for your support and knowledge over the years. Love to all who will miss you. The members of the Greymouth Municipal Brass Band. Lynn Welsford.
Johnny you were the best neighbour. You kept watch over those who might need help and always had a friendly word of encouragement and a good laugh to share. Nothing was ever too much trouble- you didn’t muck around you just did what needed to be done. We often remember the rugby nights at Coates street-so many expert coaches all shouting at the screen. We are lucky to have known you. RIP
