Tributes

If there was ever a person made of Iron when I was growing up, it was definitely Mr Harris. From my teenage years to becoming an adult I always addressed him as Mr Harris, not because I felt I had to but just out of respect. He was not a man of many words but he always made sure us kids felt welcomed whenever we were over. I will always cherish the beautiful memories I have being at the family home and send my love to you all at this very sad time. Aroha atu kia kaua ❤️

Sending love and thinking of all your family during this sad time. Lloyd was a great friend to our Dad and Mum, Leo and Kath Fleming, our family have many fond memories of Lloyd and Maureen especially during the Watino Road days. There a lot of stories to share about Lloyd and Dad with their love of farming, racing and beer. Rest in Peace Mr Harris, Lots of Love from the Fleming Family xx

My favourite and funny memory of Lloyd was when I took him a chocolate lamington to the restaurant home with a candle in it for his birthday. We chatted for a little while and when I was leaving he said “you might as well take that lamington home with you. If you leave it here I will flush it down the toilet! Those little things (coconut) just get stuck in my throat!”So funny! That really made me laugh 😆 Our love goes out to you all ❤️❤️❤️

Putting Family

Reminded me in so many ways of my own “pop”, direct and to the point. We had some great talks about racehorses and farming life, what a life Lloyd. RIP

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lloyd, a wonderful man who touched many lives. Lloyd was a dear friend of my dad, John. I’ll always remember the special trip to the Melbourne Cup in 2014 that they shared. Thank you, Lloyd, for inspiring Dad to travel overseas and for trusting me to look after your flash, white BMW while you were away. As a young woman, I couldn’t resist taking it for a spin to work at Fonterra an do laps in town — I promise I kept the daily powder dump off it! Lloyd’s passion for horse racing and farming made every conversation around the table at the local and the hawera club memorable, full of banter and laughs that we will cherish forever. His warmth, kindness, and love for life will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Lloyd.
