Matilda Tuala née Pirini

Sunrise: 05 July 1932 - Sunset: 15 October 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful Mum, Nana, and Mama, Matilda (Tilly) Tuala, wife of the late Lui Tuala, on Wednesday, 15th October 2025, surrounded by love at the age of 93.

Beloved mother to Joanne, Bella, Lui, Maraea, Bub (Taetuli) and Dennis. Cherished mother-in-law to Willie, Graham, Christine, Brigid and Phyllis. Adored Nana to her many grandchildren, and treasured Mama to her great-grandchildren.

Matilda will be remembered for her cheeky sense of humour, her genuine heart, and the countless ways she blessed our lives with warmth and laughter.

She will remain at 20 Blacklock Avenue, Henderson, open to viewing from Thursday 16th October until 5pm Friday 17th October, where Haven Falls will prepare her for family service:

Friday 17th October, Holy Cross Church (8 Lavelle Road, Henderson), 7pm. There will be a space to have refreshments and catch ups at the church, before the family will return to blacklock to have a night with mum, until Matilda will then begin her final journey home.

We will be leaving Auckland on Saturday 18th October, travelling to Morehu Marae, Pawarenga, where she will lay in state overnight.

Her final funeral service will be held: Sunday 19th October Morehu Marae, Pawarenga 11am, followed by burial at the whānau urupā, where she will be laid to rest with her Samoan King.

We welcome all who knew and loved her to join us in celebrating her extraordinary life and sharing cherished memories.
