We all loved Helen from the minute she started volunteering at the Richmond Hospice Shop. She was an invaluable member of the team and we often asked her to do extra for us as she was such a pleasure to work with. And she always said yes and went the extra mile. We missed her when she became ill and left our little family so it was always nice when she was able to pop in and see us. She has left behind firm friends here at the Shop and we will think of her often and treasure the time we were lucky enough to spend with her. Our thoughts and hugs go to Jim and the family.

I’m sending all my love to you all, Helen you were a wonderful lady, from being the best neighbours for many years in Toi Toi St, and always getting that yearly up-date on all the kids and grand-kids in the Xmas card, I will miss it. You adored your grandkids, as they adored you. Ange, you’ve been your mums rock, how proud dad and everyone must be of you, the many trips to Christchurch, and Helen told me you never complained once! Jim your going to be sad for a long time, to loose one’s life partner is truly devastating. She didn’t deserve this bloody abhorrent cancer, but he only takes the good ones. Be at peace now Helen. I’m unable to be with you on Saturday, but I will be watching the live streaming. My heart goes out to you all. Deon & Ryan send their condolences. Vicki Charles & Family

Helen had a beautiful smile, a talent for crochet, line dancing and bowls, and a style that was all her own. Her pottery was … something to behold, and she was one of the most ridiculously photogenic people I’ve known. Helen, life hasn’t existed for me without you in it and I’m at a bit of a loss. I will miss your spark, your sense of fun and your laughter. I’m so sad that you’re gone but I’m so grateful to have known you. All my love to your nearest and dearest.
