Born August 28, 1939, in Grey Lynn, Auckland, Dad was the second of four siblings — all now reunited in love and peace. In 1970, he married our beautiful mum, Eleni, in Savai'i, Samoa. Their 55-year union was built on deep love and unwavering commitment. Together they raised us — Vaito'a, Will, and me — and though we now live in the U.S., Dad's love and values always kept us close. A proud NZ Army infantryman, Dad served in Malaya, marked by a quiet tattoo and a deep sense of honour. A builder by trade, he worked across the Pacific, shaping not only structures but relationships with honesty and skill. Dad was calm, wise, witty, and principled — a devoted husband, loving father, and proud Tama to his grandchildren and great-grandchild. His legacy lives on in Winter, Keelyn, Zion, Savai'i, Tiana, Little Tai, and Kaladin — and through every life he touched. Fa’afetai tele lava, Dad. You were our steady guide and gentle giant. Rest peacefully. Your strength lives on in us.

I will always remember the short flight from Upolu to Savaii when I first met Ron. With very few words, he opened my mind to consider other world beliefs than my own. I'm proud that my grandchildren descend from such a man.
