Passed away peacefully on the 27th of July 2025 at Resthaven on Burns Street Cambridge, aged 83 years. Much loved husband of Dorreen and adored Dad of Virginia, Brenden, Sophia, Barnaby, Jonathan and the late Matthew. Loved Grandad of all his grandchildren.

Sending love to Sophie and Alastair, Brenden and Kavita – my thoughts are with you all at this time. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there in person, but I was grateful to be able to watch the funeral online – thank goodness for technology! To Chloe and Ryan – I’m so proud of you both. Your stories were beautiful to listen to. And now I understand exactly where Sophie’s school-day shenanigans came from – love it. John was clearly a much-loved man, and it was touching to see the depth of that love reflected in all the memories shared. With love, Elke
