Margaret and family. So surprised to hear of Pats passing. We will always be grateful for Margaret and Pats support and friendship over many, many years. Especially, when we had a fire at our restaurant, Pat and Margaret shared their house with us. I have always enjoyed our golf battles, the bets taken, and the beers afterwards. You were a top bloke and an outstanding individual. Will be missed by Mary and I.

YMCA Lunchtime Joggers is where I met Pat. We all started as serious runners and as the years passed ended up walking. Pat fitted right in and contributed to the social banter. Sometimes stirring! His extreme generosity and friendly disposition will be sadly missed.

So sad to hear of Pat’s passing, my thoughts and condolences to Margaret and the extended family. Pat was a great bloke one of the best buggers I’ve had the honour of knowing. We had many great days as a radio client with Matador Meats and I’ve always appreciated Pat’s support in business but more importantly as a mate to have a beer and a bloody good yarn. You’ll be truly missed Paddy., sorry can’t be st the funeral but will be thinking of you all.

Pat is remembered very fondly for his knowledge, honesty, integrity, hard work and contribution to Retail Meat New Zealand, and his work during the setting up of the Retail Meat ITO, by his mates and fellow butchers who served and worked with him. Pat served on the national body from the late 1980’s threw until the early 2000’s becoming President of Retail Meat New Zealand in 1998 and 1999. All this time contributing to the butchery trade that he loved, away from his own business for no reward other than the knowledge of a job well done trying to promote the butchery trade he loved. Once a butcher always a butcher, Work hard, play hard, could have been Pats motto. It was a privilege to spend Pats last day with him and two other past Retail Meat NZ, presidents, and fellow butchers,Todd Heller, & Lee Sturmfels. R.I.P. PAT, Top of The Chops Ian Howes

A shock to lose a good mate so suddenly. Pat was a true Taranaki legend. Always quick to help anyone, Pat and Margaret shared a great sense of humour and we count ourselves lucky to have so many great memories of time shared together.

We are all saddend to hear of Pat's passing,The meat industry has lost a local pioneer of our game. Your knowledge and leadership was something to admire and helping out others was never a problem. On behalf of the Taranaki Master Butchers Association,The Morrison family, The Kiwi Butcher Shop Rest easy Pat. Our thoughts are with Margaret and the Scannell family.

I was gutted to have received the news of Pat's passing from Ron. Gone is a man who made his mark on New Plymouth with his way with meat. Many a BBQ would have sizzled a scotch or sirloin steak during a fine Taranaki summer evening at home or at the beach thanks to Pat. I will raise a glass in your memory, Pat. A life lost but memories rekindled.
