In Loving Memory of Mahia Mereaira Hinekura Henderson-Te Tomo18 May 1953 – 8 August 2025

Surrounded by her loving whānau, Mahia, a cherished daughter, great-grandmother, nanny, mum, sister, mentor, matriarch, and treasured whānau member, has passed into the embrace of her tīpuna.

She was a Wahine Toa, the strongest and hardest-working wahine we knew, whose relentless courage shone through as she fought staunchly to the very end. Her love was fierce, hearty, and always honest—never soft, but exactly what we needed to become who we are today. We, her daughters and whānau, were immensely proud to call her our own. Selfless to her core, mum was a guiding light, a nurturer and protector, always there to lend a hand, offer wise counsel, or provide unwavering support to those she held dear. As a mentor and matriarch, she inspired us with her strength and humour, uniting our whānau with her endless love and resilience.

We will miss her strength, we will miss her honesty, we will miss her one-of-a-kind humour that could cut through the darkest days, but we will carry her spirit with us always.
