Dear Kent Maryanne John and families I was very sad to learn today of Marie's passing. I am very sorry wont be able to be in Feilding tomorrow. Your mother was so kind to me and to my brother Andrew when we were at boarding school in Feilding. I spent so many Sunday lunches at your beautiful home in Denbigh Square swimming in your pool and eating grapes from the glass house. Your father Arthur also always made me feel so welcome as did you all. Marie and my mother Judie were friends from Stratford and I know how grateful she was that Marie opened her and your home to Andrew and I. We were a long way from home and having your place to escape to was wonderful. Marie came to my mother's funeral in 2003 and I was so happy she was there. More latterly in the early 2000's I saw Marie numerous times in Oakura Beach where we had many a family holiday, she John and Simon would often be at the beach at the same which was so lovely, she was always so proud to have come from Taranaki. It was lovely to reconnect with her then and I was able to tell her as an adult how special it was having a second home away from home. My grandfather Eliot Rutherfurd acted for Marie's family as their lawyer so our connection goes back a long way. Marie was the most elegant lady always kind and caring and I know you will all miss her so much. I will never forget her kindness and I always thought we had a special connection so you are all in my thoughts. My brother Andrew sends all his love and condolences too and wanted to be remembered to the family. With much love Jonathan
